Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question, "What are you doing during the holiday?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to talk about your holiday plans.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
آپ یوم پاکستان کے لئے کیا کر رہے ہیں؟
(Aap youmay Pakistan ky liye kia ker rahay hain? )
میں ساحل سمندر پر جانے کا منصوبہ بنا رہا ہوں.
(Mei sahil e samundar per janay ka mansuba bana raha hun. )
Once more with the English translation.
آپ یوم پاکستان کے لئے کیا کر رہے ہیں؟
(Aap youmay Pakistan ky liye kia ker rahay hain? )
“What are you doing for Pakistan Day?”
میں ساحل سمندر پر جانے کا منصوبہ بنا رہا ہوں.
(Mei sahil e samundar per janay ka mansuba bana raha hun. )
“I'm planning to go to the beach.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What are you doing for Pakistan Day?”
That's:
آپ یوم پاکستان کے لئے کیا کر رہے ہیں؟
(Aap youmay Pakistan ky liye kia ker rahay hain? )
This day celebrates the Pakistan Resolution, which was passed in Lahore on March 23, 1940.
Listen to it again:
آپ یوم پاکستان کے لئے کیا کر رہے ہیں؟, آپ یوم پاکستان کے لئے کیا کر رہے ہیں؟
(Aap youmay Pakistan ky liye kia ker rahay hain? , Aap youmay Pakistan ky liye kia ker rahay hain? )
This Urdu sentence literally translates as “You Pakistan Day for what doing?” But it means “What are you doing for Pakistan Day?".
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
میں [plan] کا منصوبہ بنا رہا ہوں.
(Mei [plan] ka mansuba bana raha hun.)
This Urdu sentence translates as "I am [plan] of planning." But it means "I’m planning to [plan]."
For example:
“I'm planning to go to the beach.”
میں ساحل سمندر پر جانے کا منصوبہ بنا رہا ہوں., میں ساحل سمندر پر جانے کا منصوبہ بنا رہا ہوں.
(Mei sahil e samundar per janay ka mansuba bana raha hun. , Mei sahil e samundar per janay ka mansuba bana raha hun. )
