Hi, everybody!
Do you know what monsters Pakistani people are scared of? In this lesson, you'll learn about three scary monsters in Pakistan.
Let’s start with the most popular monster.
بَد مانَس
[slowly] بَد مانَس
It means Barman.
The Barman is the Pakistani equivalent of the Bigfoot monster.
It lives in the Western regions of Pakistan. It has both human and ape-like attributes, and it allegedly kidnaps women to assault them. It wears animal skins on its back.
That sounds pretty scary, right?
You might have heard about the next monster. The next one is...
چڑیل
[slowly] چڑیل
It can be translated as back footed in English.
This is a beautiful woman with backward-facing feet.
She appears in deep, dark woods to lure unsuspecting travelers, mostly men. It is unclear what happens to them, but they never return home.
Okay. Here's the last monster.
سلیلا
[slowly] سلیلا
Have you heard of this next one? This is the Sila.
A Sila is a female jinn, the creatures below demons and angels. They are treacherous and can change form. The Sila reportedly seduces men, captures them, and forces them to dance.
Let's wrap up this lesson by recapping what we've learned. Listen to the name of each monster and repeat after me.
