Kellie: Hi everyone, I'm Kellie.
Hamza: And I'm Hamza!
Kellie: And welcome to Culture Class: Essential Urdu Vocabulary, Season 1, Lesson 18! In this lesson you'll learn five essential words related to transportation and to use around town. Kellie: The most frequently used mode of transportation. Currently, there are three types of buses that operate within the country. One type of bus only transports people within a single city. Another type of bus transports people between different cities. The last type of bus, known as the Metro, transports people within a city on specialized tracks that are separate from the usual traffic.

Kellie: One of the most common modes of transportation. Motorcycles are cheap to buy in Pakistan due to increased domestic manufacturing. Because of their price, they are popular among people with lower incomes. Cities like Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala have roads crowded with bikes. Riding a motorcycle is considered very dangerous.

Kellie: A small, three-wheeled cart available in all major cities except Islamabad. People use them for commuting to work or school every day. Rickshaws have very small seats and low roofs. This makes it very difficult for taller people to get on and off.
