Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to use when talking with friends. After watching this video, you’ll be able to have a casual conversation with a friend, and to say something is “super.”
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
ارے، یہ گاڑی دیکھو!
(Aray, yeh gari daikho!)
واہ، یہ بہت اچھی ہے!
(Wah, yeh bohat achi hai!)
Once more with the English translation.
ارے، یہ گاڑی دیکھو!
(Aray, yeh gari daikho!)
“Hey, look at that car!”
واہ، یہ بہت اچھی ہے!
(Wah, yeh bohat achi hai!)
“Wow, that's super cool!”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “Hey, look at that car!”
That's:
ارے، یہ گاڑی دیکھو!
(Aray, yeh gari daikho!)
Listen to it again:
ارے، یہ گاڑی دیکھو!, ارے، یہ گاڑی دیکھو!
(Aray, yeh gari daikho!, Aray, yeh gari daikho!)
This Urdu sentence literally translates as "Wow, that car look at!” But it means “Hey, look at that car!”
Now, how do you respond to this?
First of all, you’ll need to learn how to say “wow” . That’s
واہ, واہ
(wah, wah)
Then, you’ll need to learn how to say “That’s super [adjective].”
The pattern is:
یہ بہت [adjective] ہے.
(Yeh bohat [adjective] hai. )
This Urdu sentence literally translates as "That's very [adjective] is?” But it means “That's super [adjective].”
For example:
“Wow, that's super cool!”
واہ، یہ بہت اچھی ہے!, واہ، یہ بہت اچھی ہے!
(Wah, yeh bohat achi hai!, Wah, yeh bohat achi hai!)
