Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, we’ll learn conversational phrases to answer the question “What's the matter?” After watching this video, you’ll be able to make complaints and ask someone else if they’re having any issues.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
کیا مسئلہ ہے؟
(Kia mamla hai?)
دفتر گرم ہے.
(Daftar garm hai. )
Once more with the English translation.
کیا مسئلہ ہے؟
(Kia mamla hai?)
“What's the matter?”
دفتر گرم ہے.
(Daftar garm hai. )
“The office is hot.”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What's the matter?”
That's:
کیا مسئلہ ہے؟
(Kia mamla hai?)
Listen to it again:
کیا مسئلہ ہے؟, کیا مسئلہ ہے؟
(Kia mamla hai?, Kia mamla hai?)
This Urdu sentence literally translates into "What matter is? ,” but it means “What's the matter?” in English.
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
دفتر {adjective} ہے.
(Daftar {adjective} hai. )
“The office is {adjective}.”
This Urdu sentence literally translates into "Office [adjective] is. ,” but it means “The office is [adjective].” in English.
For example:
“The office is hot.”
دفتر گرم ہے., دفتر گرم ہے.
(Daftar garm hai. , Daftar garm hai. )
